Arvid Westfall Leaving for Guatemala—July 4th
Arvid Westfall left on July 4th to Guatemala. He will continue
the work on the Old Testament translation into K'anjobal de San
Miguel. Presently the Translation Committee
is working on the book of I Samuel. Arvid and
the committee will be working on reviewing
that book as well as going through the revisions
that he has made on Exodus and Leviticus
while at home here. Pray for uneventful
travel. This is the rainy season in Guatemala
and there is always the possibility of landslides
that block roads and other delays
caused by heavy rain. Pray for good health.
The last two visits Arvid became ill each time which slowed the
work making it an uncomfortable situation. He will be returning on
July 26th. Pray for Nancy while he is gone that things will go well
at home and that she will have a productive time as well.
The Mission
This project is a continuation of the Westfall’s first project with Wycliffe that they began in 1969. They completed the translation of the New Testament in 1981. Following that they were asked to serve in several different assignments with Wycliffe. Those included 10 years in International Administration, 10 years working with the churches in many countries in Asia to help them to become senders of missionaries instead of receivers and now helping churches in the Upper Midwest to develop effective mission programs.
Prayer Requests
Pray that the right contacts can be made for planning a missions vision trip to Guatemala.
Pray for good health and energy so that significant progress in translation and literacy can be made.
